Happy Tuesday and almost May. I’m back from Coachella and I have finally gotten back into the swing of things. I have three concerts stacked already for this and next week so Coachella was just a warm up for my music this season.
I know you all are not all wanting to hear/read about festival fashion (per my Instagram poll) so I am wrapping up how to wear the trends outside of the festival grounds. So I’m going to go over the trends…. the I’ll wrap it up at the bottom. (SKIP OVER TO THE BOTTOM IF YOU WANT TO READ THE QUICK WRAP UP OF HOW TO WEAR THE TRENDS OUTSIDE OF THE FESTIVAL.)
I love going to festivals because I truly enjoy seeing everyone pushing themselves to be more bold and think outside of the box with their wardrobe. I don’t know what it is, but all the festival goers all walk with a confident pep in their step with what they are wearing and it’s pretty cool I’ll have to admit. I also love seeing groups or coupes all come together and match/have a theme. Yes, there is a lot more nudity… and I don’t always love it (especially if I am eating lol) BUT I’M ALL ABOUT EXPRESSING ONESELF MORE FREELY WHEN YOU’RE AT A FESTIVAL. ALSO, IT’S HOT IN THE DESERT GET OVER IT.
LET’S TALK TRENDS.
DR. MARTINS – Dr. Martins were everywhere (as they were last year). I snagged a platform pair this year and wore them everyday at the festival. I prefer having my feet covered because I am always stepped on. I love chunky boots with a dress ALWAYS.
FRINGE– Fringe jackets, fringe jumpsuits, fringe skirts, fringe shorts, backpacks etc. I am all for it. I saw fringe everywhere.
WESTERN ACCENTS – meaning cowboy hats, boots, belt buckles. A trend from last year too and years before but this year they were more bold.. A lot of people paired the western accents with their boho looks. I would have to say that my favorite trend was seeing thigh-high western boots. I absolutely want and need a pair and would wear them outside of the festival grounds. HELLOOOO from an old equestrian girl to another I’m getting a pair.
LOTS OF NEON – I feel like I talk about this way to much… so we won’t get into it.
BIKER SHORTS – the trend is here to stay. I still have yet to try it. I played volleyball and wore a lot of spandex when I was a teen so I am about done with all spandex shorts…but never say never with me. I saw a lot of biker shorts with blazers I loved it.
BELT BAGS– Everyone and their mom had a belt bag including the straight men too. These bags are great because your money is easily accessible and you can also always have eyes on it in the crowds of people.
HAIR CLIPS – whether it is one or two…or three… the rhinestoned ones, colored ones, tortoise, pearl, etc. I love the trend and I sported it myself.
WRAP UP – HOW TO WEAR THE TRENDS OUTSIDE OF THE FESTIVAL
-Pair a chunky boot with a dress this Spring/Summer. Love this for events that I know my feet are going to get stepped on or when I know I’m going to do a lot of walking.
-Add the pop of neon orange, green, pink to your neutrals. I also love neon with light washed denim. Such an easy outfit right there with heels.
-Wear cowboy boots with a dress. I love white ones. More of a modern twist opposed to the normal black or brown.
-Try out the biker short trend with an oversized blazer. Remember to cover more up top because the focus is more on your legs in the shorts. Can also pair a belt bag with this look if you’re feeling trendy.
Add some flair to your hair with hair clips. This trend was a no brainer for me because I do the absolute bare minimum when it comes to my hair (i.e. I always wear it down and never really do anything to it). I love to match my rhinestone clips with my rhinestone belt, also love to matched my colored ones with the outfit I am wearing. I’ve linked some options blow.
