*Disclaimer I am not a huge sneaker head. I turned into a sneaker head a few years ago. Although I prefer to invest in boots I recently started investing in sneakers because I wear them more. If there is an error below feel free to correct me 🙂
If you haven’t heard of “Yeezy’s” they are an Adidas shoe brand curated by one my favorite artists: Kanye West. Although erratic and irritating 95 percent of the time, the man is well versed in the fashion world and is no stranger to designing footwear.
History
In 2015 after many different collaborations including Giuseppe Zanotti, Louis Vutton, and Nike to name a few… Kanye controversially reached a deal with Adidas. After switching from Nike to Adidas he released a mid-top sneaker called the Yeezy Boost 750 (aka the first style of Yeezys) for $350 a pop. Then came releases of more colorways.
Next up for the second chapter of the collaboration was the release of my favorite, the Yeezy Boost 350 for $200. After this release these sneakers started gaining more popularity, but more importantly credibility in the sneaker world.
Even though I love his music I was skeptical of buying these shoes. These shoes are by no means cheap. The materials he is using couldn’t possibly amount to the price. One things that bugs me about the shoe, is like all Adidas they use a styrofoam looking padding in their sole. I don’t mind how it looks, however it is hard to keep clean. The styrofoam is in the middle of the shoe sole, and if I can change one thing about them it would be that.
I ordered these bad boys above on black Friday. These are the “sesame” colorway in the 350s. Yeezys usually sell out on the day they are sold. In the past they were only sold through the Yeezy/Addias website, but now other shoe sites are selling. I bought mine on Champs. I am subscribed to the Addias + Kanye website email list to stay in the loop of releases. Click here to subscribe your email. I also follow Yeezy mafia accounts to stay up to date on new releases.
*If you are new to the sneaker world there are Yeezys available on other websites (Fightclub), however they will be marked up over the face value of the shoes. You will only pay face value on a release date.
